Responsibility

"He was trying to pimp out his family to me," I said, "and then they all
started calling me a gay."
I was trying to give Julia, the beautiful teacher, an explanation for my
outburst. But she was just shaking her head.
"Do you really think its appropriate to talk like that to children?" she asked.
"No, not really," I mumbled and looked at my shoes.
"I find this whole thing very disappointing," she continued, her lovely blue
eyes glowering at me, "these children are at a critical stage of their
development, a time at which they are easily influenced and our behaviour
and attitudes can determine the types of young men and women that they
become. As educational staff, we are charged with the responsibility to
shape these young people into decent, caring human beings; and your
outburst can do nothing but encourage the objectifying of women and the
degradation of the self. I am shocked and disappointed at your attitude - by
your actions, you may well have caused permanent damage to these
children. Have you anything to say for yourself?"
I opened my mouth to answer but I was distracted by the sight of Jeffries
behind her.
He was winking and holding up a piece of paper that said: "five quid -
top fuck - niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice".
